Do I need to wire anything into the van?
No. An alternator charger clamps to the starter battery and everything else plugs in. Nothing about the vehicle changes permanently.
Can it run a rooftop air-conditioner?
A 12V roof unit, yes, for a few hours. A domestic split unit needs a DELTA Pro size and honest expectations about the runtime.
Solar on the roof or a folding panel?
A folding 400W panel out-yields a fixed roof panel here because you can angle it and park in shade. Fixed is tidier; folding charges faster.
